death of a desert bloom

spikey

Sorry I’m late. It’s tax time of the year and I’m catching up on about 8 months of bookkeeping that I’ve put off. It’s the one thing I really dislike about working for yourself. That, and no steady paycheck. That can be annoying.

pinky

Only in New Mexico can you get away with painting your church pink.

one year later

Well, I wasn’t planning on posting today, but it is kind of a special day. Exactly one year ago today, I started this photoblog. It’s been an amazing journey both personally and stylistically. I hope you’ve enjoyed the work as much as I did making it. Thanks for all your support and great feedback. Comments [...]

bad subaru

Why did you have to be in my shot! Why did you have to be so white! Update: Special Post Tomorrow

bullock's!

Can’t imagine working here and answering the phone. Me, “Good morning! Bullock’s!” Caller, “WHAT THE HELL DID YOU SAY!” So all you UK people out there, is it bullocks or bollocks?

Big Spread in Portland Spaces Premier Issue

Big Spread in Portland Spaces Premier Issue

It’s not often you get to shoot a feature for the premier of a new magazine. But, that’s just what I did this month. Portland Spaces launched on January 10th, 2008. The Portland home + lifestyle focused magazine features some great articles on homes, design, green living, and products. For my piece “Desirables”, we shot [...]

the spa

My folks are DIY crazy. I mean that in the nice kind of way. The town they live in is built on a huge system of underground hot springs. When they realized they only had to drill down about 20 feet to get to hot bubbly mineral water, the built this spa room off their [...]

grid sky

So it’s coming up on a year now for ides-of-may and I’ve been pretty good at posting almost daily. Starting today though, I’m only going to post Monday through Friday. Got to have some life outside the photoblog-o-sphere.

things are looking up

hank

Henry is a good friend a mine and an amazing person. He’s a writer, editor, publisher, and one of the best kickballers I know. He’s also fun on camping trips. Especially when it comes to BB Shotgun games. Check out www.cogconsult.com for all your literary needs.

trapped

Don’t worry, I set it free after I took the shot.

graphite

My friend Tim O’Kane is realist artist. His paintings and drawings look like photographs. He’s crazy too. Check out this one. It’s one of my favorites. UPDATE: Blog returns tomorrow! I hope!

gate

I would love to have a gate like this.

el monticello

This building is in a small town called Monticello, NM. I don’t think Thomas Jefferson ever went there though. But you never know… that guy was crazy.

main house

Wouldn’t be a bad place to go to work everyday.

japanese fence

If you look closely at these fences, you’ll see they don’t use any nails. It’s an amazing skill.

rock soft

it grows everywhere

Moss. Moss on moss. Moss with moss on top of moss. There’s so much moss in Oregon that the garden stores all sell moss killer by the bag. Back East, moss is a luxury item for decoration. There’s got to be a way to make everyone happy.

nopo

Portland (PDX) is acronym crazy. “NOPO” is North Portland (which is where I was when I took this shot). “NOLO” is North of Lovejoy, a major street in NW Portland. Our studio is located just South of the “TAINT”, the area between NE Couch and SE Ash. I kid you not.
