I’m on the hunt for a new point & shoot (my camera phone can only do so much). I can’t decide between the Canon G9 and the Sigma DP-1. Anyone know of a shoot off between the two?

Here's a Sigma DP-1 review that does some comparison with the G9 that I happened to be reading the other day. http://www.luminous-landscape.com/reviews/cameras/sigma-dp1.shtml
i've used the g9 and it's surprisingly good especially since you can use your existing canon strobes
Scmee's right about that hot-shoe – plus Chromasia's been posting some great stuff using the G9 – I've heard nothing but good about it. Whereas Ihave read some bad reviews on the DP-1 (I think it's more expensive too no?).
Thanks everybody! It's like a family reunion on this post!
I just got word I will be getting my Economic Stimulus check. Canon G9 here I come!
Or maybe I'll just wait till Canon comes out with an APS-C size G series.
i wouldn't count on it. the form factor probably prohibits the ability to put an APS-C in there. plus they'd be directly competing with what's already their bottom dSLR.
noise handling isn't that bad even though it's a lot of pixels for a small sensor. give it a go in the store and i think you'll be surprised at the quality
I've got a G9 and I love it. Quality is best I've seen for a point and shoot. Raw format is great! I think it's the closest you can get to DSLR quality in a point and shoot
