i've used the g9 and it's surprisingly good especially since you can use your existing canon strobes
Scmee's right about that hot-shoe – plus Chromasia's been posting some great stuff using the G9 – I've heard nothing but good about it. Whereas Ihave read some bad reviews on the DP-1 (I think it's more expensive too no?).

i wouldn't count on it. the form factor probably prohibits the ability to put an APS-C in there. plus they'd be directly competing with what's already their bottom dSLR.
noise handling isn't that bad even though it's a lot of pixels for a small sensor. give it a go in the store and i think you'll be surprised at the quality
I've got a G9 and I love it. Quality is best I've seen for a point and shoot. Raw format is great! I think it's the closest you can get to DSLR quality in a point and shoot
