What I love about photography is the instant memory recall that happens when you look back at a photograph. It’s very visceral, but only I can feel it. I can look back at any picture I’ve taken and remember taking it. This picture I took while walking around OMSI in Portland, OR with my wife. The day was cloudy. These blue chains held down some equipment that I think was used to build the Tillicum bridge. Something about the blue chains drew me in. I had to shoot it.
I don’t get this memory recall when looking at other people's photography. I enjoy looking at other work, but ultimately I can get more pleasure from creating work and looking back at it later.
What’s the thing that brings back your memories?
