Industrial-Chic Shoot Featured on Dwell

I’m always so excited for my clients when one of their projects I shoot for them gets published on a major industry site. Last week it was the New York Times, this week my client Emerick Architects was featured on Dwell for this amazing industrial-chic Portland warehouse they remodeled. Definitely one of those #loftgoals kinds...

    Hunter Douglas Case Study

Summary Since 2013, I’ve been hired by Hunter Douglas to help them create photography, time-lapse, and video for their dealer books, trade show materials, website, social media, in store display… basically everything. The first time I worked with them, they actually flew out to Portland just to meet me to see if we’d be a...

Midcentury Modern Shoot Featured on Dwell

A few years back, I shot an incredible midcentury modern remodeled home for my client, Portland, OR based JHL Design. I really loved the shots we got from this shoot and apparently my client and I weren’t the only ones. Dwell.com recently featured the shooton their blog! Here’s a snippet from the before and after...

        2017 Highlights

One of my New Year’s Resolutions was to blog more and I’m off to a strong start with this mega post. One of my favorite things to do this time of year is look back at everything I shot the prior year and pull favorites for portfolio consideration. I’ve culled that collection down to a...

          Country Living – Cloverfield Farm

I have to admit, one of the biggest perks to my editorial shoots is meeting incredible people and spending time in their beautiful homes. Such is the case of Cloverfield Farm recently featured in Country Living Magazine. This stunning rustic barn home is the dream effort of the sweetest couple Jessica & Kevin Carnell. Jessica...

          • […] Technically shot in 2016, but it wasn’t published until fall of 2017. That’s always so hard with these editorial shoots. You do some really great work and then you have to wait a whole year before you can show anyone. The getaway home is about an hour from Memphis in the Mississippi country side. The owners Jessica & Kevin Carnell were so sweet and Jessica has a great Instagram feed (@growing_cloverfield_farm) of the whole project from start to finish. Read more on my blog post here. 2016 in Review

Wow, where does the time go! This is my first “Year in Review” since 2011. Why the long drought? Well, the biggest change was that we welcomed our firstborn, Odin, in December of 2012. Two years later, came his sister Teagan in December of 2014. Three short months later, we moved back to Virginia to...

Country Living Cover Feature January 2016

2016 is off to a great start with this cover feature for Country Living. I didn’t know it was going to be the cover when I shot last year and found out shortly before it went to press. After 14 years of shooting and getting published, it’s still very rewarding to see your work in print on a...

Play by Play of a Full Day Interior Design Photo Shoot

Saul Zaik is well known architect that’s famous for his Pacific Northwest take on mid-century modern design. He’s been practicing architecture since 1952 and I was lucky enough to photograph a Jessica Helgerson Interior Design remodel of one of his houses in the West Hills of Portland, OR. For a different take on my typical blog post, I...

Beatiful house and photos! (And a nice Porsche 911!!:) ) But I have one question, do you know what kind of lamp is hanging on the wall in the family room? And maby which brand its from. I saw the same lamp in a cafe some time ago.
                Thanks.ReplyCancel

Thanks, not sure of the lamp. It’s hard to keep up with those kinds of details when you’re just shooting for one day.ReplyCancel

                Love. Love. Love.
As always I’m just a fanboy loving your work.

Would enjoy seeing more of your process in post with compositing vs hdr. As a real estate photog primarily I don’t get the leeway of more than maybe 90 minutes on site. With that, not looking for an easier process but one that I can get better results in the limited shooting time. Plus, hdr is so hit and miss with the color variations in rooms.

                Cheers! Look forward to more.ReplyCancel

Thanks for the great idea. I’ll try that out the next time I process a job and blog the results.ReplyCancel

Tailoring Thomas – Portland Monthly November 2013

Here is a really cool shoot I did for last month’s issue of Portland Monthly. Thomas Lauderdale, of Pink Martini fame, has this amazing house/building right in downtown Portland. It recently went through a huge restoration and remodel led by artist and designer Philip Iosca. It’s a pretty stunning place to call home, but I...

Happy Thanksgiving Eve Everyone! I finally have a breather after what’s been an incredibly busy fall. It’s been too long since my last blog bust, but it feels good to be back. I have a major backlog of work to share, so subscribe to my RSS to get the latest and greatest. I figured since...
