New Services for 2018! Drone Imaging and Full Motion Time-Lapse

Happy New Year! I’m very excited to share some news about two new services. Over the past six months I’ve been getting up to speed with drone technology and time-lapse photography and I’m now ready to offer it in addition to my still photography services.

Drone Imaging

Flying a drone is fairly easy and they have become quiet common over the past few years. But, did you know you can be fined millions of dollars for flying a drone in controlled airspace? You can also be fined for flying a drone commercially without an FAA license. I’ve taken several drone courses and passed my FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certification last year. This means I can legally fly my drone for commercial purposes. I understand the rules governing drone operations and can now apply for special waivers, as well. It also means I can be insured. Insurance companies won’t issue a policy to anyone operating a drone commercially who does not have their FAA Part 107 License. Flying without insurance or a license is very bad. Hire me instead 🙂

Here are a few examples of some drone work I’ve done recently.

Time-Lapse Photography

I’ve always admired time-lapse photography. I think it’s beautiful way to showcase spaces and the environment, blurring the line between motion and still. It’s something I’ve wanted to invest in for a long time, but never had much call for it. This fall, a client of mine reached out to me looking to shoot multiple time-lapses of an elementary school project I shot stills for a few years ago. They needed the time-lapse clips as a feature on their new website’s landing page. I took the opportunity and ran with it. I’m very happy with how it came out and here are the results.

I can’t wait to shoot more of these. Please reach out to me today if you’re in need of some wow factor time-lapse photography.

Thanks!

Huge Portfolio Update!

Ahh… new work on the website. It feels good. I’ve been super busy the past few years, not only with work, but with family, too. My son, Odin, was born in December of 2012 and my daughter, Teagan, was born in December of 2014. During that stretch of time, I also had some of my busiest years to date with shoots from so many great clients like Hunter Douglas, Country Living, OMSI, The Joinery, Jessica Helgerson Interior Design, Boora, Mahlum, Nike, and Rejuvenation to name a few. On top of that, we decided to move from Portland, OR to Charlottesville, VA to be closer to family last April. Yeah, crazy busy.

Since moving back to the East Coast, I’ve been traveling everywhere for work: California (3 times), Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia… I’ve traveled more for work this year than I have in the past 5 years. I feel very lucky to have a loving and supportive wife (and in laws) that’s allowed me to continue my career on the road.

Anyway, I finally found time to get a lot of new work online and I have SEVEN new portfolios to share with you. Quickly, they are Interiors, Exteriors, Details, Education, Workspaces, Lifestyle, Food Culture, and Food & Drink. This body of work represents the very best of my 13 year career. Here are some highlights and clicking on a photo will take you to the full gallery.
