Bluestone Elementary for VMDO

Previously photographed in the winter, VMDO Architects needed fresh images of Bluestone Elementary shot in spring from the ground and the air. Bluestone Elementary in Harrisonburg, VA is a school all about community and support for its refugee community. VMDO wanted photos to showcase how the school supports this mission through its design.

Working closely with VMDO and school administrators, we captured students interacting with the space in a natural way. We staged the shots to show community connections and an accurate representation of the diverse community.

We also captured aerial shots via drone to show the school in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley setting.

Using our photography, VMDO won 6 design awards including 2019 Livable Buildings Award Winner and cemented their leading role as a forward thinking architects in the public education market.
